I believe that the war in Afghanistan is another Vietnam. There are several reasons that I believe that. These reasons include the terrain, enemy, and length. The U.S. should probably step out of In both of the wars, the terrain makes it hard for large armies to attack openly. That is the way that the U.S. military likes to fight. The Taliban and the Viet Cong both use guerrilla warfare and blended in with civilians. Because of that, they are both very hard to defeat. Also, the Vietnam War lasted 11 years and was the longest war that the U.S. has ever fought. The Afghanistan War has lasted 9 years and is planned to last until at least 2014. If this happens, the Afghanistan War will be the longest war that the U.S. has fought by at least 2 years.
These are several reasons why I think that Afghanistan is another Vietnam. We should leave Afghanistan before more innocent civilians and U.S. troops die. If we don’t, it will be worse than Vietnam. |
