I believe Afghanistan is another Vietnam.

The Afghanistan War is shaping up to be pointless, just like the Vietnam War. These two wars are similar in multiple ways, such as length, terrain and other things.

First of all, The Afghanistan War has been going on for 9 years, and the Vietnam War took 11 years for the United States to pull out. Some analysts are saying that the Afghanistan War could pass the Vietnam War in terms of length. This would make the Afghanistan War the longest war in U.S. history.

These wars were also fought on difficult terrain, desert for Afghanistan, and jungle for Vietnam. This makes it difficult for our soldiers to fight there. Our enemies have also used guerrila warfare tactics, such as underground tunnels or suicide bombings.

Our reasons for these wars are different however, such as Vietnam attacking a U.S. ship and September 11, 2001. It is still unlikely, in my opinion that we will catch Osama Bin Laden soon, in order to punish him.

Luckily, the casualties in these wars are drastically different, 58,000 dead to 1,025 dead, for Vietnam and Afghanistan, respectively. We should pull out our troops before it is to late, so they can return to there families and we can focus on other things.

I believe the Afghanistan War to be a pointless war, just like Vietnam, due to enemy tactics, terrain, length, and I think we should just pull out of this war.
